Norwegian conductor Torodd Wigum has been working with all most prominent Norwegian symphony orchestras. He has conducted the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and the symphony orchestras in Stavanger, Trondheim and Kristiansand. Torodd Wigum is currently holding positions of Conductor in Residence with the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra and Artistic Director of the Trondheim Sinfonietta.
Besides his engagements in Norway Torodd Wigum has conducted MDR Sinfonieorchester, Leipzig, Göteborg Symfoniker, the Copenhagen Philharmonic, the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra (Latvia), Århus Sinfonietta, Pori Sinfonietta and others. Engagements for the coming concert seasons include re-engagements with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, MDR Sinfonieorchestra, Leipzig, as well as first-time engagement with the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra among others.
Torodd Wigum studied viola at Trøndelag Musikkonservatorium and the Norwegian Academy of Music. For six years he held the position of principal violist of the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra. At the same time he was the solo viola in the Trondheim Soloists, a chamber orchestra which has worked with Anne-Sophie Mutter, Leif Ove Andsnes, Ole Edvard Antonsen, Joshua Bell and Jon Lord.
Torodd Wigum has assisted Neeme Järvi, Andrew Litton and has participated in master-classes of Neeme Järvi, Jorma Panula and Paavo Järvi.
