C-JAM
“Miraculous” – is the most common reaction from listeners attending concerts of cello quartet C-JAM.
In 2004 four leading cello players of the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra formed a group in order to perform their own arrangements of rock/pop music. Their aim is to bring beloved and evergreen melodies to the listeners on four classical instruments. By today the group has become immensely popular in their homeland Estonia, but not only. They have given concerts in Russia, Latvia, Germany, Belgium and China and have released two albums – “Hit the Cello” and “Cello on Air”.
C-JAM has collaborated with well-known Estonian artists like Anne Veski, Rebecca Kontus, Kaire Vilgats, Bonzo and Tõun. Their summer tours have become already a tradition and the concerts given in various places of Estonia are very popular and always well-attended. The group has also recorded music for highly acclaimed Estonian film “Sügisball” (Autumn Ball).
C-JAM combines the sound of classical cello quartet, metallic rock and big-band in an interesting and often surprising way. Their style of music making is seductive and warm and as a result leaves no-one indifferent.
All arrangements are done exclusively by the members of the ensemble and their repertoire includes music by Lennon/McCartney, Queen, Status Quo, ELO, Procol Harum, Bon Jovi and others. C-JAM has their emphasis mostly on rock/pop music, but frequently they perform also music by classical authors – Händel, Brahms, Wagner, Johann Strauss, etc.
